Quick Throws or Lap Blankets

Two more fast patterns for small lap blankets or throws. Use one strand of mohair and one strand of worsted weight wool together.

MATERIALS: 600 yds mohair, 500 yds knitting worsted weight wool, 12 mm (US #17) circular needles

 

PATTERN #1

Terms used: YO - yarn over

VERY LOOSE, cast on 78 stitches.

Knit three rows garter stitch.

Row 1: K3, *(YO, K2tog.)*, rep. from * to * to the last 3 st., K3.

Row 2: K3, *(YO, K2 tog.)*, rep. from * to * to the last 3 st., K3.

Row 3: Knit.

Row 4: Knit.

Continue rows 1 to 4 until the length you want.

Finish with 3 rows garter stitch.

Cast off very loosely.

 

PATTERN #2

Terms Used:PSSO - pass slipped stich over the knit stitch
YO - yarn over
SL - slip
VERY LOOSE, cast on 83 sts.

Work 3 rows in garter stitch.

Van Dyke and Rib Pattern:

Row 1: K3, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO, *(K3, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO, K2, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO)*, repeat * to * to last 3 sts. K3.

Rows 2, 4, 6: Knit.

Row 3: K3, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO, *(K1, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO, K1, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO)*, repeat * to * to last 3 sts. K3.

Row 5: K3, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO, *(K2tog, YO, K3, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SL1 knitwise, K1, PSSO)*, repeat * to * to last 3 sts. K3.

Repeat rows 1 to 6 until required length.

Finish with 3 rows garter stitch.

Cast off loosely.
